The Emirates Dream

Abu Dhabi photographer Saeed Nassouri has created a unique view of the United Arab Emirates. He presents vistas of landmark buildings, palm trees and historic forts through a blurry dream-like lens.

The United Arab Emirates has a unique population demographic, with 89% of the population being foreign residents. Life in the Emirates provides many a tax-free income, safety and a higher standard of living. Each of us has our own perspective on life in “the Emirates” a view of our surroundings is influenced by the cultural experience of the land we grew up in together with new experiences.

Perhaps historic forts are blurring into the past? And perhaps contemporary streetscapes reflect on the hustle and bustle that has become part of life in today’s Emirates? Other scenes are transformed into an oasis of tranquillity.

While Saeed has applied a common technique throughout this series, it is interesting to see how an extra dimension has been added to individual images. If ever there were a collection of images open to personal interpretation, then this is surely it?
